Sclerotherapy

A very small needle is utilized to inject a solution into spider veins and some varicose veins. The solution causes the vessel to collapse. The cells lining the inside of the vein becomes irreversibly damaged and inflamed. External compression is applied to keep the vein collapsed, so blood can no longer flow through it, so it can become permanently sealed closed. The body then breaks down and removes the vein over weeks to months.

Ultrasound Guided Sclerotherapy

Using local anesthetic and under direct ultrasound guidance, a more concentrated sclerosing solution can be injected into deeper and larger veins. Other than the additional expertise and skill required to use imaging guidance, it is no different than standard sclerotherapy.

Ambulatory Phlebectomy/ Microphlebectomy

Under local anesthesia, small varicose vein clusters can be removed through tiny knicks in the skin. One can return immediately to normal activities and without large surgical scars.

Endovenous Ablation of the Saphenous Vein

This technique is an alternative to traditional “vein stripping” surgery. It is performed in an outpatient setting, under local anesthesia. After mapping the target vein with ultrasound, a small catheter is placed into the insufficient vein (usually the saphenous vein). A very thin laser fiber is then advanced into the vein. Laser energy is applied as the fiber is withdrawn back through the vein, using heat to seal the vein shut. This is functionally similar to removing the vein, however, recovery and down-time is minimized.

Please arrive 15 minutes prior to your appointment time if you have not downloaded all forms and filled them out ahead of time. This will allow time for paperwork and for you to review consent forms when applicable.

What to expect during on your first visit:
When you come for your initial consultation, our experienced team of physicians will determine if your venous concerns are cosmetic or they might fall into a medical venous disorder category. Patients with medical venous disease, or venous hypertension, will have their initial consultation billed to their insurance company. Any subsequent co-pays will be billed to the patient.For patients that fall under the cosmetic category, the initial consultation will be $50.00, which will then be credited towards the cost of your first treatment.
